Auto numbering blocks, is this
HiI know there are various routines for auto numbering by "clicking" and getting a consecutive number each time but is there a routine or a way of being able to automatically number each block with an attribute by swiping the drawing and the routine starts at the top left for instance and works left to right, top to bottom, numbers consecutivley all blocks with that attribute until it runs out of blocks. This would save alot of time 1 swipe everything numbered.
Thanks I'm happy you didn't ask for anything that was impossible.
Let's say you have ten different blocks and each was used ten times. How would you like them numbered?1 thru 100?Or 1 thru 10 for each distinct block? It would be 1 thru to 100. Each item has its own item number even if it is the same block. Hope that makes sense. the short answer is yes it can be done. The long answer is its going to be hard to code that. But it is possible. Do you think that a lisp routine is the best way to achive this?
It would be great and save loads of time if I could say, draw the plan of a kitchen drag in all the bits of kit, (tables, cookers, ovens, mixers etc) which are all blocks with various attributes (item no, manufacturer, electric load, size, price etc). Swipe the entire drawing to number them up, then run the data extraction to create the legend, quote and any other "list" that might be applicable. I spend so much time changing numbers and typing up legends. Then there is the error factor if you miss type something etc. Example: http://www.cadtutor.net/forum/showthread.php?t=20103
