Undo & Zooming

Is it necessary to have AutoCAD remember the "zooms" when you hit "undo"?Is there a setting that will allow AutoCAd to not undo "zooms" when I hit "undo"?

Thanks!

No, zooming and panning are considered to be actions in Autocad therefore they are included in the list of items to undo. You can't change that. But you can go into your Options > User Preferences > Undo/Redo section and check the box that says "Combine Zoom and Pan Commands". Doing this will force zooming and panning to be combined into one Undo rather than individual Undo's for each zoom and pan.

I don't know if you can have it ignore the zooms altogether, but you can have it combine consecutive zooms (and pans) into a single undo step.

Command entry: undo
Enter the number of operations to undo or : Enter a positive number, enter an option, or press Enter to undo a single operation

Combine Controls whether multiple, consecutive zoom and pan commands are combined as a single operation for undo and redo operations.
Combine zoom and pan operations? : Enter y or n or press Enter

Note:Pan and zoom commands that are started from the menu are not combined, and always remain separate actions.

If I have a long way back to where I want to undo, I just use the drop down and select the point I would like to return to. If it is way back, as in to where I last saved, I just close without saving and re open the drawing.
