Can't update object for W

I have a drawing that has been previously by someone else here at work. My job is to update that drawing. When i click on part of the drawing that I want to edit, it highlights the whole object instead of just that 1 line I want to edit. How do I break the drawing apart so I can edit it.

If there was only one m-inserted block, then I think would be feasible to remove it and insert it again in the same spot in order to be able to edit it; block's definition should be available into drawing's database.

There is a lot of theoretical advice, but I could not read any feedback that it had actually worked.

Let's hope that the OP's problem is not Minsertion.
