UCS, viewport and viewcube?

I am having problems with the viewport thing.

I want to model in LEFT viewport, so i use the LEFT viewport but my viewcube is showing TOP.

I thought no big deal, i'll just change the UCS, and it's messed up.

I can't seem to align anything, it's driving me nuts.

All I want is for the Left viewport to show X and Y axis and the viewcube to show Left, but I can't get all 3 to show Left properly.
