Area command doesn't show

Want to calculate area by selecting the points in sequence for a closed poly line.
I had done it before with no problem.
Now it doesn't show any result.
After selecting last point (one before the first point) and hitting ENTER to make a closed area, it just returns to command prompt with nothing happening.

Am I doing something wrong?

Windiws XP, AutoCAD 2007

Your procedure sounds correct to me. Did you check the Text window (hit the F2 key)?

You are correct! in text windows, it wites both area and perimeter but didn't show in command line.
Do you have any idea what causes this problem. I want to have them in command line.

you probably just need to "stretch" your command line... hover around the top of it until your arrow turns into that double line arrow thing..... and stretch
