Text links in Autocad 2008 ?

Hello,
I'm using ACad 2008 version.
Is there any feature similar to 'text-links'? Meaning, I use a text label in many drawings. Presently, a change in that text is done manually by changing it in all the drawings which is very painful.
Can these text be linked so that changing a text in one place/drawings will automatically propagate the change in all other drawings?
I'm positive that there is a better way of doing it but do not know how...any suggestions please.

What exactly are we talking about? Text in a title block for instance or maybe text in a long list of construction notes?

Could it be handled with Xrefs?

Could it be handled with Sheet Sets?

We could use some more detail.

Yes it is important to know what the text is about, but with sheets sets and fields you can do a lot of automatic changes. Of course you can also program something with lisp or VB
